Just wondering how prices are affected you as for me I had to go with one bike to do it all as a bike around 20k set up now day
And with the cost of gear to it could go easy over 25k
.
So just got 500exc and set it up to do pretty much anything but it still cost 23k to build and haven't finished it as I like to do the enduro and a little of mx and Hopefully Adventure ride but as well last 3 or 4 year as with the price now I can't afford one each year as I would normally have a 300 2t and a 350 4t so I see how it made be buy a 500 for it longer lasting life so I can still ride most weekends with out needing to work Saturday to just afford it and talking with other now I see alot of bike over 300 hour because of the price of a new one .

Yep nearly went down the path of a 500 for all of the same reasons.
Just couldnt settle on which 500. This caused me to miss the end of season sell out.
And now I am planning on keeping the 300 till it dies and goes to scrap metal.

Upgrade every year! Wow, that's a bit excessive! Lol, I had the same bike for 16 years! Just service them and look after them, and you won't need to upgrade every year. I've just upgraded myself to a KTM 350 as I can no longer get parts for my old bike. Hopefully, this one will last me the rest of my riding days.

Yes, I'm not going near any new bikes either. Getting a little older and I'm a tinkerer, so I'll keep pining it together and it should see me out.

My ideal bike follows:-
(late 80's tech' & cost)

2T for a stylish simplicity.
Large capacity; for grunt.

6 gears for wide versatility.
12 litre tank; for endurance.

Owned such a bike, WR430.
I'd buy a new one; if I could.

My bike cost me $5000, seems to go as well as anything else. Certainly an expensive sport if you want the latest bike. But good suspension and tyres is usually the limiting factor in speed. You can find alot of brands with low hours pretty cheap, but it seems a little harder with KTM's.

New bike? Maybe if I win tatslotto! Bought and built a 2018 Gassa. Chad did the suspension. Few other bits and pieces and topped out at $9000. AND.....just scored a 2022 exc 500 for $9000 with 16 hrs on it. Had to sell a kidney but now I've got the best for both worlds for under 20,000.
Would I swap it all for a new bike?
No frigging way!!!
Go second hand every time.
