Mt Dissa, return of the "Yamaha's"

Some excellent conditions for today's L2 ride at Mt Disappointment. A bit dusty on the open stuff but everyone seemed to be having a pretty good ride and not too worried about it.

14 of us were up and about and with the fog clearing on the mountain it was shaping up to be a great day.
The notable thing in the car park was the number of blue bikes that weren't Sherco's. Brought back memories of the mid-late 2000's before the euro domination. Yamaha 2 strokes / 4 strokes / 250's & 450's, even an adventure hybrid.

Warmed up on a narrow flowing track, before hitting some old fire trail that was a bit rutted out with a nice (dry) creek crossing.
Looped around back past the cars and picked up 1 more keen rider.

Headed toward the 3rd gear / hamburgers area with a plan of just using some of the easy tracks. Had to make a short detour which took the group up hamburger 3, challenging for our L2 group. More fire trail, went through Anderson Gardens before hitting some of the lost world and a nice mix of open and narrow trails. Everyone was lapping up the loop with gusto, we were having plenty of rest breaks to catch your breath and doing some trails at the top end of what would be level 2, bordering on some +. Ended up down pipeline and started heading back toward the cars.
Threw in some special tracks as everyone was keen for a bit more and finished off back the first rutted fire trail from earlier in the day. All up ended being around 70k's, a few more than I anticipated but with the open transport section it racks up k's pretty quickly.

A big thanks to Mattas for sweeping all day, from what I heard after the ride, the great riding ability of the group kept his job pretty easy. Also good to report no Yamaha breakdowns for the day :D :D

Indeed - blue bikes everywhere!
And it was a perfect level 2 Bushy, thanks!
Great tracks, great conditons and no dramas to speak of (we won't mention my puddle brain fade at the end. Always in water, f*#k me)

A couple of pics from the top of the hill - no one left behind! [I'll have to work out how to reduce vid filesize..]
Beautiful view, but of course would have been more exciting if I captured the guys mono-ing their way up the last bit - you know who you are! Anyway, that climb's got some challenge at level 2 if you take a tough line, so pretty good that all bikes came straight up first go.

PS: no wonder they call him Bushy - the bloke literally knows every 3rd tree on the whole mountain!

Just goes to show you that you always start a ride with a full tank. Bushys original post of 40-50km didn't last long because everyone just wanted to ride. And ride we did!

Throwing in a few + obstacles made it that extra bit exciting with the first log of the morning saw me walking the bike over as I held my breath and said "it's too early for this".

I took it slow on hamburger 3 as I didn't know what I was up against. Slow and steady with someone NOT on this ride AND still yelling "more throttle" at me is all it took. You know who you are! 🤣 There wasn't too much carnage on this hill and everyone did well.

The serenity down the ladder was awesome and as Bushy said, it's a freeway now with all the logs cut out. I may have to give this a crack going uphill.

Four of us reeled in a bike that slid over a ledge and wedge itself amongst the scrub. No photos were taken so it never happened. 🤣

Thanks to Mattas for babysitting me at the back of the group and Bushy for keeping an eye on my energy levels. Legends 👍

Thanks Bushy for putting on a great L2 ride and looking out for me. Thanks to all for picking up my bike over and over again (FFS!)
To think I NEARLY made it up Hamburger and NEARLY made it down the ladder and NEARLY made it thru the Moguls - wasn’t a bad day.
It was a great ride with challenges to help me improve.

I attended at the gentleman's hour of 10am to what I thought was only going to be a couple bikes, I was wrong lol

Was such a fun ride with tight and narrow to open and flowey, maybe too flowey as I tried to make it my own level 3+ resulting in 4 people having to rescue me 🤣 oops... too much sx and wess series on YouTube for me sadly my ability to ride the bike wasn't as good as the thought I was Billly Bolt. Donnie kept me In my lane after thar for a little haha

Great crew of fellas and I am.looking forward to the next one!

Once again thanks bushy for a great ride mate

What a great day at Dissa, we had a blast! Bushy opened up parts of Dissa that were new to all of us, he’s another human gps.

I haven’t enjoyed fire trails as much as l did today, pace was good for a L2 ride. We had a great mix of tight and open rutted trails, logs on the last few trails to test guys skills too. Bushy and Dissa didn’t disappoint!

Conditions were great, the group moved and everyone rode well. My sweep duties were pretty cruisey, I got to have a lot of fun despite dust storms at times as I tailed 15 riders, I still managed to sit back and enjoy. Thank you Bushy for leading us on a great 70k loop.

Highlight was everyone’s performance on hamburger 3, everyone did well, it was a lot better than expected. Donnie - there was no babysitting, you rode really well, you got through everything like a boss, you just talk your self down!

Great bunch of riders!

What a great day on the pegs! Great weather great group of blokes that were very keen to just keep riding which bushy with his wealth of knowledge of Mt dissa continued to produce some great trails! Some reasonably tuffer sections which everyone pretty much sailed through and some nice faster firetrails to cool down on! I do have footage of the day but unfortunately my computer decided not to play ball and I can't get it to upload will keep trying though! Thanks to Bushy for leading and Mattas for leading the whole day looking forward to the next one! Might even jump on a 2+ cheers!

Thanks again to all the guys that came along and rode awesome, everyone getting through the parts that pushed the upper limits for level 2.
I got a bit of footage, this is the edited version and I've left in a special part of camera trickery, enjoy!
