2t4me Neerim adventures

Post by Cruiser »

With new back wheel I was in for this ride.
With 2t4me leading. We coverered a lot of ground that gets the general flogging up there at Neerim.
Was fun finding lines that was not going to see you sinking up to your seat in a rut. Or end up with 4" of mud stuck to the tyres..
I was so glad I doned a new tyre for this ride. Im sure it save me a few times.
Climbing hills that were just infested with ruts, roots and step ups determined to make sure the climb was earned.
Down in creeks that required a bit of man power to get bikes out of at the other side.
We had it all going on today. The option of going around hill climbs was presented. It was one of those rare days that I gave everything a red hot go. Was so glad I did. Equaly glad it wasnt raining.
Covered just shy of 50ks. The first 20ks seemed to take forever. Lots of cool talent on this ride with Glezzo and his mate Brendan.
Sean did a good job of sweeping most of the ride. With Glezzo taking over and playing out the back of the pack.
Was a good group. Lots of laughs
Till we ride again

Yes very enjoyable ride with a good bunch of blokes.
Sweeping is a interesting position to be in when riding with a moderate size group of riders! You get to see all spills.
Was different selection of tracks that pete normally takes us on but just as enjoyable.
It was good meeting new people to me and thanks dusty for leading a awesome again,
Until next time cheers.

Feeling it today!!

Thanks to all that came - 9 of us in total!

Thanks to Sean for sweeping until lunch and to Glezzo for taking over.

I had a great day - but my body is regretting it and thinks it may have been a bit much for my 4th ride back on the dirt!

Great group of blokes - some good riding and brilliant banter which is what it’s all about!

Thanks again

Cruiser summed up the day pretty well. Lots of adventures and laughs with a great group of riders. From my perspective, it was rather different riding back in the pack than leading a ride around Neerim. I got to see, and experience, some of the carnage first hand. also to witness some impressive bike control skills. Getting stuck in a very muddy 4WD rut in the first 10 minutes wasn't my best bit of riding/line selection but things improved as the ride went on. Thankfully the tracks were a bit drier than I expected in some critical spots and after recovering from my earlier '"stuff up" managed to get through all the logs and ruts etc fairly well, with a little bit of help in a couple of spots. Thanks Dusty for leading and to Bonez and Geezo for sweeping. It was a great day out guys, until next time, cheers, Pete.

Thanks Dusty and all for a great ride. Really enjoyed being able to have a go at some of the trickier bits.
(Thanks Glezzo for pulling my rear out of the mud in the bottom of that creek crossing. Somehow Dusty got through on that suboptimal line and I followed, but I didn't commit and just dug a nice hole. Well, my stuck bike provided a clear indication of which was the more sensible line for everyone else 😅, so I watched them all file past pretty easily. At least it wasn't too deep for my boots! Once I was free I got up ok.)

Great to be out again with some of the pros I haven't seen on the pegs for a while. You definitely tired me out; my arms/hands weren't really connected to my brain by the latter part off the ride. Next time I'll have to have a go at that little-but-gnarly climb I didn't think I had the energy for.
Thanks sweeps of course and, without wanting to jinx it... thanks to all for a successful cornerman ride!

PS: Dusty excellent timing on your photo of the Gasser. WTF was I doing you may well ask?! I am asking the same!! I'd like to say it was on purpose for the camera, but you all know it was more like a natural 'on the edge of out of control'. Got over thankfully but next time I'll try not stopping just before the log in the first place!
