Who is everyone using for insurance?

Post by MrNoodle »

I live in a dogy area so need to make sure a potential new bike insured. I usually go full comp with RACV and rang them up to get a price and seemed more then double what my bike has been previously. No doubt its worth more and times have changed etc but my KTM 250 is still only about $150 and remember that generally they were cheaper when new/newer as parts were cheaper (their spiel). I think swann and RACV were about $350 when I just checked. Am I just being tight?

From memory RACV don’t insure RecReg, have always gone Swan-no hidden loop holes like some cheaper insurance, you can leave your bike out on Burke st Mall with no locks or alarms and your fully covered.

My current CRF is insured with Swann and it's reasonably priced.

Another option is Shannon's. I've got my old CRF insured on a laid up policy. It's quite cheap and it's covered for fire and theft while garaged as well as when being transported on a trailer etc.

It's essentially comprehensively covered at all times apart from when being ridden, which in my opinion is really all that's needed for a dirtbike. Unfortunately Shannon's don't provide cover for rec reg.

When my Swann policy comes due I think I'll swing it over to Shannon's.

I take back anything nice I said about Swann.

Just received a letter advising that my policy won’t be renewed when it expires early next month.

Dunno if it’s dirtbikes in general or rec reg yet, gotta call them to find out.

What Gypsy501 wrote. Swann is the way to go. Equates to less than a dollar a day and for the first two years, it's a new for old replacement.
RACV don't do rec reg.

I rang Swann, and it seems they are still gonna insure rec reg dirtbikes, they have just cancelled the policy style I had.

It was cheaper and covered riding gear etc compared to what they are offering now.

I reckon I'll just go with Shannon's laid up when the Swann policy expires.

Been thinking about doing it. I've got android version on my keys, in my wallet, on my dog! Dog doesn't think to much of it when she starts ringing. They are handy as I often lose something and spend ages looking for them. On the bike is just an extra bit of insurance

My phone is android too.
I haven't used any tags...

What phone do thieves use?
Mates likely-carry I-phones?

Thus; track without-owning I-phone?
Mate-with: May-aid to-recoup bike?

Android's useless; if-thief uses Apple?
Maybe deploy both types; to be sure?
